The bordering counties of Romania and Hungary seem to be an inexhaustible source of thermal water, although there is a significant difference between the efficient uses of the water in the two countries. All eight counties are recognized as important tourist attractions due to the spa and wellness centers. In contrast, Satu Mare, Bihor, Timis and Arad are known mainly for the outdoor swimming places .
In Satu Mare County, a major attraction is Carei Beach which has been developed over the years, acquiring new slides, swimming pools and extended camping space. Plans for building an aqua park have been recently elaborated, as well as plans regarding the use of the excellent quality thermal water. Arad Beach gained the title of the biggest beach, not only in the four counties, but also in Romania. There are several restaurants, breweries, terraces and many swimming pools where tourists can spend a day of relaxation.
Bihor is renowned for its thermal water: Felix and 1 Mai Baths have become popular health resorts, with numerous treatment facilities as well as indoor or outdoor pools with thermal mineral water.
There are lots of opportunities for the wellness tourism in Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg, Hajdú-Bihar, Békés and Csongrád Counties. Hajdúszoboszló is the prime attraction for thousands of tourists.
One of the reasons is the thermal water recommended for the treatment of different diseases, while another is the aqua park which was built here. Gyulai Várfürdő is a place where tourists benefit from the night time wellness facilities, while Sóstó Bath is also famous for its thermal water and aqua park. If you travel through the four counties, you will find in each of them baths or hotels which offer wellness services.
The pools with different water temperatures, the adventure pools, sauna and water jet massages are just a few of the multitude of facilities that make you feel healthier and more energetic after you spend a long weekend enjoying them.
